Information for parents

Do you know someone looking for an apprenticeship?

There are many options available to young people after they leave school, so we’ve answered some common questions from parents and teachers about our apprenticeships so you can help them to make the right decision.

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Get in touch and we will be happy to help!

This depends on their chosen route. If they choose a business apprenticeship, they’ll go to college one day per week from the beginning of their training. If they choose a mechanical engineering apprenticeship, they’ll be at college full time for at least 20 weeks, then one day per week for the remainder of their apprenticeship.
Yes, including time spent at college!

A new apprentice will be accompanied by an experienced professional at all times in the factory, until we’re confident they can work safely on their own.
After finishing their apprenticeship, they could be offered a permanent position and have the opportunity to develop their career in many different areas of the business. They might also choose to complete further qualifications, funded by us, such as an HNC, HND or even an engineering degree!
An apprentice will work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.  Depending on their shift pattern, they’ll get a half day on Fridays, finishing at 1:30pm!
