British Engines Donates Over £10,000 To Local Food Banks For Second Year

In December 2022, the British Engines Group came together to donate food, toys and over £10,000 to local food banks to help those struggling in the local community.

As part of Christmas Jumper Day, employees were asked to bring in donations to support Newcastle West End Foodbank in Benwell, part of a nationwide network managed by The Trussell Trust. For the second year in a row, the British Engines Group made an additional donation of £10,000 to help those struggling in the community.

Over 565kg of food was generously donated by our employees, enough to feed over 136 people! A number of boxes filled with toiletries, pet food and Christmas gifts were also donated, along with a further £418.50. Employees at Stephenson Gobin also made donations to the Angel Trust in Durham.

Laura Willis, Administrator at Newcastle West End Foodbank, said: “Thanks to everyone at British Engines for your kind donations. Your continued support will help us to provide food and welfare services to those in need across the city. We are truly grateful to you all!”

John McCorry, Chief Executive at Newcastle West End Foodbank, said: “I wish to record our gratitude for your support of Newcastle West End Foodbank. Your donations will help us to provide food-parcels for people living in Newcastle who struggle financially to make ends meet and afford food for their families. In recent months we have seen more people than at any other time seek support from our Charity.

“The cost-of-living crisis is having a significant detrimental impact on poorer households and your donations have been most helpful in supporting us to assist vulnerable people. It is particularly heart-warming to have your support for our Charity, which has enabled us to assist people in their time of need.  On behalf of our beneficiaries, staff, and volunteers, I wish to express our gratitude for your generosity and valued support.”

Well done to everyone from across the businesses for their involvement.
