British Engines Hosts Singapore Student Visit

In July 2016, British Engines welcomed 80 university students from Singapore, to our BEL Valves and BEL Engineering sites, in collaboration with Newcastle University.

The students received Health and Safety Awareness training, followed by a site tour to see our health and safety practices first hand.

During the site tour, the students were asked to note the health and safety practices put in place in our factories and identify why they were required.  They then presented their findings to representatives of Newcastle University and British Engines.

During their visit, the students had the opportunity to speak to some of our trainee and graduate engineers about their routes into engineering and careers so far.

All the students thoroughly enjoyed their day, and the opportunity to learn in a working manufacturing environment. Here is some of the feedback we received:

“I really enjoyed the tour as it was a great opportunity to see HSE practices and procedures in context after hearing all about them in the training.”

“Following the training the site tour helped me to be more aware of my surroundings from a HSE point of view and I enjoyed giving feedback on what I had seen.”

“I enjoyed the training and more so the fact it was delivered in a company. I also enjoyed finding out about British Engines and talking to the engineers who showed us around.”
