The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our site in Bishop Auckland for two Stores Operatives.

Reporting to the Material Handling Lead this position will assist with the stores and despatch function to ensure targets and objectives are achieved to meet customer requirements.

Duties will include

  • To receive goods in to stores; ensuring the electronic goods inward/receiving processes for all goods are carried out in a timely manner
  • To undertake basic inspection of goods received where necessary to ensure they meet both technical and purchase order requirements
  • To assist with routine stock checks
  • To undertake local driving to suppliers and group companies for collections and deliveries
  • To offload deliveries and transfer materials around the facility using a forklift truck
  • To operate the steel saw and marshalling billets
  • To report stock anomalies to the Material Handling Lead
  • To carry out daily yard inspection checks (ensuring that waste is segregated and disposed of in accordance with the guidelines of the company’s environmental policy)
  • To pack and despatch goods against the packing lists within agreed time scales in line with packing, despatch and shipping requirements; ensuring goods are visually inspected and weighed
  • To accurately complete delivery notes, packing and shipping documentation
  • To accurately input customer information onto the business system
  • To undertake general duties within the despatch area i.e. stacking products, stocktaking, loading containers and ensuring orders are correct
  • To maintain a consistent high standard of housekeeping within the facility
  • To ensure safe practices are maintained and health, safety and environmental issues are being dealt with in real time where possible
  • To ensure that you work in a safe manner and comply with the company’s health, safety and environmental policy

The person

The successful candidate should have knowledge and experience of working within stores and despatch in an engineering/manufacturing environment. A relevant qualification in a stores or engineering environment would be advantageous. They will be proactive with proven ability to work on own initiative, be flexible with a hands on approach to work activities and have the ability to meet deadlines. Candidates must have valid driving and forklift truck licences.

Working hours are 38.75 per week
