Last month, employees at group company BEL Valves took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise money for end of life charity, Marie Curie.
Abi Kettlewell, Graham Chandler, Alex Barnes, Connor Alderson, Craig Duncan and Jodie Beal completed the 24 mile walk in eleven hours raising an incredible £1,686.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent (2,227 feet), Whernside (2,415 feet) and Ingleborough (2,372). These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The challenge was organised by the BEL Valves Sports, Social and Charity Fundraising Committee, an initiative launched earlier this year where employees apply for donations to clubs and organise company funded trips. So far the committee has organised a bowling trip, provided funding to local under 16’s football teams and organised on-site food and coffee vans.
Abi Kettlewell, Buyer and Committee Member, said: “The challenge has been a great way to bring employees from different departments together. We wanted people who would not have normally signed up to this type of activity to join in, and I think because we did it as a group it made people feel confident to go for it. It was challenging at times, but the group really came together to support such an amazing cause!”
